Classes

What to expect in class?

Each Kindermusik class supports all aspects of the Early Years Foundation Stage principles and believes that each child should be allowed to respond and learn in their own unique way and at their own pace. It encourages children to be involved with collaborative activities, turn taking and to contribute individually aswell as within a group.

Classes use age appropriate gathering instruments for children to explore during the 10-15 minutes before class begins, its always a good idea to arrive early soyour child can settle easily (especially if they’ve had a nap before class).

Village:
A hello song begins each class followed by intentional touch activities, and bounces. Babies anticipate their name being sung as we acknowledge every child around the circle, watch out for their responses and record your observations in your downloadable home journal. All these exercises are designed to stimulate controlled movement. Circle dancing and group dances are enjoyed by all, allowing babies to develop their spatial awareness and brain/eye co-ordination. When babies are walking confidently they like to join in their dancing independantly, albeit at a slightly slower pace and ever so slightly less choreographed! We
encourage individuallity at all times and are very happy to see a child adapt an activity accordingly. bubbles, balls and parachute all provide endless fun and energy along with steady beat learning, hand/eye development and social skill building – and its enormous fun! We wind down with relaxation, gentle rocking and finally our goodbyes to all the babies.

Each term follows a specifically designed programme incorporating a wide range of music from around the world, introducing babies to a variety of temp, instruments and pitch. Our home materials support the continuous learning with fun themes like Hickory, Dickory, Tickle & Bounce; Rhythm of My Day, Dewdrops, Dream Pillow, Busy Days. You will experience many Village curriculum over your time with Kindermusik,
for the whole family to enjoy.

For children in Our Time we use movement suggestions when we sing hello, and use movement as the key to learning and incorporate jumping, hopping, twirling and rolling into our many movement activities. The classes still follow a regular weekly structure of Hello song, wonderful fun bouncing that your child will love,
and simple stretching and stop/go activities. Then its on to steady beat, listening development and pitch awareness; all in the form of movement activities which are simple yet fun. Your toddler will love our simple stretching exercises and stop/go activities that we use and week after week their confidence will
grow. Music is used as our simple guide to directional movement whether it is up/down, forward/backward or stop/go. We have marching giants, ladders to climb, creeping caterpillars. Stopping on dots, jumping in and around hoops, twirling with scarves, bouncing balls, shaking parachute, doggies rolling in the mud….Phew!

Parents are actively encouraged to participate with their child; through scaffold learning styles children are able to bring their own ideas and use them indivudually and encouraged to take part at their own level, pace and style. After all, we want our children to strive forward in the world as an indivudual, not just follow the crowd?

Each class will use between 2-4 different props, allowing time for lots of repetition and enjoyment whilst allowing the class to move forwards and retain focus as we all know that little ones, and big ones, can struggle to keep concentration levels, so we aim for a happy mix of familiarity along with new materials. Relaxation is also enjoyed in this class, allowing children to wind down gently and either lie on our relaxation blanket or cuddle with their carer, or we sometimes have musical storytime instead. We end with our familiar goodbye song and stickers for each child.

Home packs are given to each child at the beginning of each term and can be used throughout the term to support continuous learning. Our themes are Fiddle Dee Dee, Away We Go, Milk & Cookies & Wiggles & Giggles.
